Ekaterina Smirnyagina

Katya joined Oxford Science Enterprises as Senior Partner Life Sciences in September 2021 bringing two decades of experience in biotech and has been a director of SpyBiotech since October 2021. Katya started her VC career in 2002 with Alta Partners, a life sciences focused US fund, followed by Capricorn Partners in Belgium.  She has been a director of a number of public and private companies in Europe and is the former Vice-Chair of InvestEurope.  In addition to SpyBiotech she represents Oxford Science Enterprises at the board of directors of MiroBio.

Katya holds a PhD in Cellular & Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has completed her scientific training with postdoctoral studies in Microbiology & Immunology at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
